Print of the Month

It has been quite a while since I have posted new material to my blog because, in fact, not too much has been going on in my life in the world of photography and video.

I am also a musician, singer songwriter and have been working on my 5th. album which is still a work in progress.

For the past 6 months of so I have been a guest at the Memphis Camera Club's monthly photography competitions.

The club reserves the first Thursday of each month for their members to showcase their photos and to

have them critiqued if so desired.

Last week I decided to become a member of the MCC and submitted two photos. One was a digital image

titled "Contemplation", a photo depicting the a rear shot of a woman with sunlight radiating down on her,

highlighting her blonde hair. The judges rated it a 23 which is "Excellent".

Let me explain the rating system, there are 3 judges and they score photographs from 1-9.

15 or below : Needs Help

16-19 : fair

20- 22 : good

23-25 : excellent

26-29 : Superior

The second image I submitted was a 20X30 print of a Hawk who had just hunted a frog from my pool.

The hawk landed on my deck railing and I caught him from the corner of my eye. I grabbed my Nikon D2X

off my kitchen island and dodged for the back door, where I started photographing the Hawk through

the glass of the door.

I was able to take about 8 images before he saw me and took flight.

The image needed work in Light Room and Photo Shop to clean up but the results were spectacular!

My image titled "Hunting Hawk" scored a 29 and was the highest scored image of the competition.

Hunting Hawk is the MCC's Print of the Month Winner...

As life moves forward, I hope to be able to post more often and share my photographic experiences with you.

Caio,

Rick
